Bare Minerals | Marvelous Moxie Collection: Part I

OhSoMoxie (MOX-see) n. – Shameless sass, all-out spirit. Total passion overload with plenty of attitude to match.

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be the runner up of a Facebook competition being run by Bare Minerals called #OhSoMoxie. My prize included the entire Marvelous Moxie lip collection which to this day, I’m still in shock about. (SO MANY LIPSTUFFS O_O). I’ve decided to do a little write up about the line; however I’ll be splitting it into different posts as there is quite a lot to cover (the prep for this post alone took nearly 3 hours!)

The Marvelous Moxie lip collection is made up of 18 shades of lipstick, 14 lipglosses and 10 shades of lip liner, all ranging from deep plums and purples to neutral nudes and bright pinks and reds.

All the shades are super pigmented, with a lovely buttery rich satin finish that lasts ages on the lips. I absolutely love the texture of these lip products as it applies exactly like a lip balm and contains Abyssinian oil and Omega fatty acids to help keep lips moisturised and supple.
The lipstick comes in a sleek black plastic case with a ‘push up’ button on the side; in order to open the case, you have to turn the lipstick upside down and slide the little button up. I don’t mind products being fidgety as long as they look cool while fidgeting with them. 🙂

Stand Out is described as a ‘mocha brown’ shade, however it comes out as more of a cool salmon shade on me. A shade I think would look great against those with cool skin tones.

Risk it All is a hot pink shade that reminds me of Lustering by MAC, but a lot more pigmented. A gorgeous buildable shade that applies on as near-sheer but can easily be layered on for a stronger look. Definitely a shade that I think would suit all skin tones.

Raise the Bar is a pearl plum shade that really surprised me because I have always been against pearled lipstick. Me and lipstick with any sort of glitter in it have been sworn enemies since the dawn of time, HOWEVER…I really really like this shade! Well done Bare Minerals…you got me with this. Normally with some pearl textures, the product is very light which means you can actually feel the gritty glitter on the lip, however this formula is buttery soft and wipes off with ease.

Live Large is a rosy plum shade that applies on a tad lighter than what it looks like on the bullet. A really cute colour that seems to go well with olive/darker skin tones.

Lead the Way is a deep wine/vamp colour and is perfect for the upcoming Autumn months. I can already tell that I’ll be wearing this colour to death; the length of wear on this shade is pretty good – around 4 hours before I need to reapply.

Fly High is a pastel lilac colour that packs a real punch. As you can see, the colour payoff is excellent; perhaps a bit TOO bright for me, but amazing pigmentation nevertheless!

So there we have it for part one; please let me know if you would like to see the rest of the collection and if you’d like to browse the rest of the Marvelous Moxie collection, you can see them all here. – £16 per lipstick.
