YSL Rouge Volupte Shine – Prune in Fire #18

YSL_Volupt

Now, I normally don’t tend to splurge on the good stuff unless it’s been on my wishlist for years or I’m in the mood for being a bit fancy (these moments are few and far between). The latter was one of these moments recently as I glided towards the YSL counter at House of Fraser, enchanted by all the gold; it had me feeling like Aladdin in Jafar’s cave.Wait, was it Jafar’s cave? All I know is that it was just randomly there at the beginning of the movie – d’ah well.
Anyhoo, after perusing through the different lipsticks, ‘Prune in Fire’ (catchy name) caught my eye. I’m very into deep purples and plums at the moment and thought this colour was gorgeous.

The Rouge Volupte Shine collection is described as having “intense moisture, luminous colour and a melting texture”. All the lipsticks contain Hyaluronic acid which helps to seal in moisture and prevents lips from drying out. I will say that moisture-wise, the lipstick does get the job done as my lips don’t dry out once while using it. I also do not feel the need to constantly re-apply, as the creamy texture tends to last for a good 3-4 hours or so.

The pigmentation element is pretty strong; it’s a vivid dark plum colour that applies on opaque and requires no need for any gloss. It faintly reminds me of ‘Rebel’ by MAC but this has a bit more “shine” to it. Once the gloss sorta wears out, you get a really nice matte stain which looks  kinda vampy and stuff. Grr.

Anyhoo, I would recommend this lipstick to anyone who likes the whole ‘vamp’ look – it’s a buildable product which is good so if you’re into something intense, this’ll be for ya. You can’t really go wrong with the luxe gold packaging either can ya? *my preciousssssssssssss*
