Ohhh you guys are in for a treat. If you’re darker skinned and are lacking in the “nude lipstick/gloss” department, you’re DEFINITELY in for a treat!
People, I think I’ve found my new favourite nudes. I know, I know, it seems like I say this about every nude lipstick I review on here but SRSLY GUYZ I think I have found the ones and I can’t wait to talk about them!
A few weeks ago I received a few shades of the new Rouge Edition Aqua Laque Liquid Lipsticks* (£8.99 each) from the wonderful guys over at Bourjois to try and I haven’t used anything else since then. The lipsticks come in 8 shades and I can definitely see them being a Spring/Summer favourite.
Having been a fan of its predecessors ‘The Rouge Edition Velvet‘ lipsticks, I’d be forgiven for thinking that these would be similar, however the Aqua Laque differ in finish and formula. The lipsticks leave a glossy finish and apply seamlessly on the lips; I would describe the texture as ‘wet’, which personally is great for me as I find the product easier to distribute and manipulate around my lips more, as opposed to a thicker, gloopier gloss. The stains are hydrating and are said to have a staying power of around 10 hours, although I find that I have to re-apply after around 4 hours or so, which is still amazing.
Let’s talk about the colours though. As I said above, there are 8 colours; 4 nudes and 4 red/pinks. Both nudes that I was sent matched me EXACTLY which is a rarity when it comes to finding a nude for darker skin tones. I was sent Fuschia Perchie (left swatch), Appechissant (middle swatch) and Rose on the Rocks (right swatch). Rose on the Rocks looks pink, however on me i’d say it’s more of a rose nude and blends in effortlessly. Appechissant is more of a brown toned nude that I think would suit most skintones and Fushia Perchie is a lovely cool toned pink.
